What's on the Hook Wednesday

Hello Hooka's and all the other folks out there in the crafty world. Today is Wednesday 2/22/12 and it is time for What's on The Hook Wednesday my mid-week check in on what I am hooking this week. I got this lovely idea from FreshStitiches who does Work in Progress (WIP) Wednesdays and since my only crafty talent is crochet I decided mine should just be What's on the Hook. So lets get started...

If you have watched my Fresh Off Tha Hook Monday video for this week then you have already seen the lovely shawl below but since it is still on my hook here it is again. The pattern is by DeniseCats on Raverly and she calls it the Mists of Avalon Shawl. The moment I saw it I fell in love and knew that I had to make it as a gift for my granny for Mother's Day. I am about 25 squares in and I love it because it is a join as you go pattern. First time I have ever done a join as you go and I have to admit it was difficult at first I just was not understanding the join but once I got the hang of it is pretty easy and I am so happy with the way it is coming together.

Loving the join as you go but
will still have to weave in some ends
Using a sock yarn from Neighborhood Fiber Co.
beautiful variations of blue and a size 4 hook
I also have one other project on my hooks almost scared to post because I am not sure it is coming out correctly and I may have to frog it again....hence the tangled mess of yarn that I tried to crop out the photo.

I guess you will have to check out my Fresh off Tha Hook
next Monday to see if this actually
made it off the hook!

So that's all I have for this week. The shawl is my number one priority...I thought I would have been tired of making the same square over and over again by now but I actually get excited each time I start a new one. Would love to know what you are working on this week and if you want to check out some other crafty peeps and what works they have in progress be sure to join the party hosted by Tami Amis at WIP Wednesdays just click the picture below.

Don't Get it Twisted Crochet part of FOTH family!

It is official! I am a part of the "Fresh off tha hook" family. Have no idea what I am talking about...well a fellow "hooker" that I follow on Facebook Marcelle's Creative Crochet, she does absolutely amazing crochet videos, one of her video series that I have always been a fan of is Fresh off tha hook Fridays. Recently Marcelle was gracious enough to open up Fresh off tha hook to others to share there work as well and at first I was a little hesitant, I came up with every excuse why I could not be a part of it; but since this is my year of "Do Better" I decided to stop making excuses and just do better. I submitted my audition video and guess what? I got accepted! I am beyond excited so excited that I am going to share my audition video here on my blog, but be sure to check back on Monday for my 1st official Fresh off Tha Hook video better yet check out the official Don't Get it Twisted Crochet Youtube channel to stay up to date on all videos, I have a few in the works. Spring and Summer Crochet

I was prepared for winter. Like really prepared I got snow boots, a new coat and crocheted myself a really nice thick chunky infinity scarf that I absolutely love but somehow I didn't get the memo that this was going to be a really mild winter. Don't get me wrong we have had some cold days, days like today where I am all bundled up but the temperature has been above 55 degrees more days this winter than it has been below freezing. So as we close out another week in February it is clear that Spring is in the air and I am happy to oblige with crocheting some beautiful things for spring and summer.

A lot of people think crochet is just for scarves, hats, and beautiful blankets and I get asked often what do I crochet during the spring and summer months and honestly I crochet a lot of scarves, hats, and blankets to prepare for the fall rush but I also love to put some lightweight yarn on my hook.  Check out some looks I have found that are inspiration for Don't Get it Twisted Crochet Spring and Summer Collections.
Crochet Poncho from Chico's Spring Collection.
